有趣的是,在座头鲸的繁殖季节,一些鲸鱼会根据其他鲸鱼的叫声来修改自己的“歌曲”。鲸鱼们甚至还有方言,不同族群的鲸鱼会学习彼此的口音(Pack, Herman et al. 2009)。另外有研究表明,鲸的声音可以传播超过3000公里。试想一下,如果海洋当中没有噪声干扰,也许一条身处塔斯马尼亚(澳大利亚的一个州)的鲸鱼发出“今晚月色真美”的感叹,会被北极的鲸鱼回应。它们的幸福与痛苦也能随着深邃的水流传播得十分悠远。
